Same, yet Different [by Michelle]

-- read downwards then upwards again =)

I am part of an apathetic generation of nurses
and I refuse to believe that

I can change the nursing world
I realize this may be a shock but
“CARING comes from the heart, and PASSION fuels our actions”
is a lie, and
“only money can make me happy”
In 4 years I will tell my patient,
because I have my priorities straight,
Solely fulfilling the required tasks
is more important than

How the patient feels
Nurses should be caring and respectful
but this will not be true in my era

And I will be too busy bother to go the extra mile for my patient

This is a fast paced society
People say

Nurses and doctors work hand-in-hand

Regardless

A doctor has a more important job than a nurse
I will not concede that

I will be as capable as doctors
In the future
Apathy will be the norm
No longer can it be said that

We will be passionate about our job,
and it's a fact that
we won't make any difference in our patients' lives

It will be evident that
We are too concerned about ourselves to have passion for our job

It is foolish to presume that
There is hope.
[These will come true unless we CHANGE OUR PERSPECTIVES]
