Convocation 7/7/2012

The day that i've been waiting for had finally approached - 7/7/2012 3pm

It was a very memorable afternoon sitting in the grand hall in the university cultural centre, half-listening to the board of trustees speech and inspecting all the different kinds of robes that they wore. I felt strange first time wearing the robes, and mine was a navy blue robe and light yellow lining (which represents nursing faculty) and the few-pounds-heavy graduate's hat. It was exceptionally sleepy due to inadequate sleep because I only landed back in Singapore from Cang Yuan OCIP 3am in the morning.

Finally the ceremony commenced and graduates from the higher ups began appearing on the stage one by one to collect their scroll, and soon I was called to enter backstage too. When you wake up from a dream, everything vanished. But that moment was real. The heavy breathing was real. My footsteps were as heavy as gold and my heartbeat was racing as i approached nearer to the stage. The anxiety was real. I could only tell myself that this was the end of studying endlessly through the years. The backstage crew helped to adjust my robes properly and before I realised it, I was already on the stage.

My name was announced by Prof Sally, my faculty head. Then applause rang the whole hall. I walked up to the centre as fast as I could and had absolutely no idea why the stage was so much longer than it seemed. It took quite a while to reach there and the next thing my hand stretched out in a reflex mode and stood for a photograph. Everything took place when the mind was blank and automatically I walked down the stage as the next name was being announced. My heartbeat was just starting to recover its normal pace when I was told to take a formal picture at the backstage. Stunned, I did and positioned myself as instructed and proceeded back to my seat. It was really quite an experience!

Took a cohort picture after that and many many more with my friends! Threw the graduate's hat finally! But nila's hat dropped and hit her head. Ouch! >.< Warning to be careful with the hat because it is heavy and may cause bruises and injuries.

Really grateful to my friends who came down specially for my convocation - Ian, Darren, Qianhui, Zitong, Wang win, Sookhan, Huiping, & Huixin (most trusted designer for photo-taking). Love you guys alot alot! Received the cute bear and sunflower bouquet from them too! Then took photos with my parents! Enjoy the pictures below! =)
